Fraud can happen to anyone. Criminals use many tricks to access personal details or card information. Staying alert helps protect your account and your money.
Here are the main types of fraud, how to avoid them and how to report anything suspicious.
Phishing happens when someone pretends to be a trusted company. They try to make you share your details. They may send emails, texts or links to fake websites. Avoid messages that ask for your card or personal information.
Fraudsters may get access to your Tabby account by stealing your login details or device. They may change your settings or make payments without your approval.
This type of fraud uses stolen card information to make online or phone payments. The card does not need to be physically present.
Criminals may create fake online stores offering very low prices. After you pay, you may not receive your order and your card details may be stolen. Refunds may also fail because the real store did not make the sale. Always check that the website is genuine before you buy.
Fraudsters may pretend to be from a bank or from Tabby. They then try to make you share your card or personal details.
- Check that emails from banks or Tabby are genuine
- Do not share your Tabby Card details or your Tabby password
- Do not share your PIN, CVV or OTP with anyone
- Create passwords that are hard to guess
- Use letters, numbers and symbols
- Change your passwords often
- Review your Tabby transactions regularly
- Watch your surroundings when entering your PIN or password
- Lost your phone?: Contact us right away so we can freeze your Tabby Card.
If you see a charge, email or transaction attempt you do not recognise, report it to us as soon as possible.
Before you report it, check the following:
- Make sure no one else in your home used your account
- Look for emails from Tabby around the date of the charge
- Check if it relates to an earlier order billed separately
- See if it could be a temporary authorisation for a pending purchase
If the charge still seems unfamiliar, report it immediately.
